ArcheAge Chronicles FAQ
Common questions, especially from players in Korea, answered from official announcements and store listings. Korean is supported down to voice-over. Early access opens on Steam on November 3 at 3 PM PT, and it can be pre-purchased on Steam in Korea as well. The early access server list has not been announced yet.
Is Korean supported?
Yes. On Steam, Korean has interface, full audio, and subtitles. Steam lists four languages (Korean, English, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese), and only Korean has full audio. The Epic Games Store lists English and Korean audio, so the listings differ by store. The October demo also supports Korean (per the October 18 producer letter).
Can players in Korea play?
Yes. The Korean Steam store sells the pre-purchase for 36,000 won (checked October 28), and early access opens at 8 AM on November 4 in Korea. The October demo had no region limits and ran on servers in North America (East and West), Central Europe, and East and South Asia, with Brazil added on October 23. The early access server list has not been announced; we will update this answer when it is.
Why was Korea left out of the network test?
The September network test checked server performance and network stability under heavy load, and only Steam users in the US and Canada could apply. No official reason was given for excluding Korea. The executive producer noted that the test was limited to about six hours and to North America. The October demo has no region limits. See How to join playtests & the demo for details.
Who runs the game?
The developer, XLGAMES, publishes it directly. The game used to be published by Kakao Games; the switch to XLGAMES running the service itself was disclosed on Kakao Games' earnings call in August 2026. The official site moved to archeagechronicles.xlgames.com, and the old Kakao Games address now redirects there. The background is in IP transfer & publishing change.
Can I play solo?
The developers say the main content is designed to work both solo and in a party. All players share one world, and 20-player raids and world bosses have been announced. See ArcheAge vs ArcheAge Chronicles for what changed from the original.
Is ArcheAge Chronicles an MMO?
Yes. The Steam store lists its genre as Massively Multiplayer and presents it as the next evolution of the MMORPG genre, and coverage of XLGAMES' October 2026 announcements calls it an "open-world action MMORPG." What sets it apart is combat: the store page says it goes beyond traditional MMORPG mechanics with action combat, and in 2024–2025 interviews the developers said it differs from a traditional MMORPG. All players share one world, you can meet dozens of other players depending on the zone, and parties, 20-player raids, world bosses, and PvP channels are planned.
Can I avoid PvP?
Yes. Each area is split into normal channels, where you cannot attack other players, and PvP channels; you switch at Nui statues after a delay. Monsters in PvP channels give 10–15% more XP, but killing a player drops no items or currency (per the October 4, 2026 post). See the PvP channels section of ArcheAge vs ArcheAge Chronicles.
Is ArcheAge Chronicles free? How does monetization work?
No, it is not free-to-play. It is buy-to-play, and early access costs $29.99 (36,000 won in Korea). You buy it once and keep playing with no subscription or other recurring fees. There is no in-game store at early access launch. If a store opens later, it will focus on extra content, customization, and convenience, and the developers say they will never sell pay-to-win items. The price may change at full release, and any change will be announced in advance. The Steam pre-purchase bonus is an outfit (the Dawn Pioneer set) for one class of your choice. The free October demo has ended. Platforms, price & monetization also covers how to claim the bonus and each store's listing.
How long is early access, and what is in it?
Early access starts November 3, 2026 at 3 PM PT, and the Steam store page expects it to last about 9 to 12 months. It starts with three regions of Auroria (Diamond Shores, Gylden Ruins, and Astron Plains), over 30 hours of main story and quests alone, four classes with eight weapons, and dungeons, raids, PvP, housing, crafting, and trading. New regions, more gender options, and a third weapon per class are planned later. See Early access content & update plans for details.
How do I join the demo or a beta?
The October Steam demo ended on October 26 at 10 AM PT and can no longer be downloaded. It needed no sign-up and included about two to three hours of quests in the early region, all four classes, a new dungeon, and PvP. Next up is paid early access on November 3. The September network test picked testers at random from applicants in the US and Canada, and no open beta or beta sign-up has been announced since. See How to join playtests & the demo.
Will it run on my PC?
On Steam, the minimum spec is an RTX 2060 SUPER (AMD RX 6600) with 16 GB of RAM, and the recommended spec is an RTX 4060 Ti 16GB (AMD RX 7700 XT) with 32 GB. Both need 100 GB of free space on an SSD. When we checked on October 28, the minimum had been lowered from an RTX 3060 Ti. The full table and how to check your PC are in System requirements.
Why do I only see a black screen when I launch the game?
A notice on October 21, during the demo, said loading can take 5 to 10 minutes after a black screen appears, so wait up to 10 minutes without closing the game. If it still shows a black screen after 10 minutes, contact support through the help page. It has not been said whether the same applies to early access.
What is the age rating?
We could not find a Korean rating yet. Among the stores, Xbox and Epic list ESRB Mature 17+, and the PlayStation Store lists the rating as pending.
