ArcheAge Chronicles classes & weapons

Last updated 2026-10-28 · We add new classes and weapons as they are revealed

Four classes have been revealed: Warrior, Ranger, Mage, and Berserker, each with two weapons shown so far. The developers plan to add a third weapon for every class. Your skills change with the weapon you hold, and each weapon has its own trait tree, so the same weapon can play very differently. All four were playable in the October Steam demo and are in early access from November 3.

Combat

Combat is non-target action with no default tab targeting, plus a lock-on option to help with aiming. The developers describe it as combining combos, real-time dodging, and skills that change with your gear. See ArcheAge vs ArcheAge Chronicles for how this differs from the original.

Weapon trait trees

According to the October 15 Steam post, every weapon type has its own trait tree that you unlock with trait points. Most nodes are small stat boosts; others give the weapon new skills or change how an existing skill works. For example, the Greatsword's damage branch unlocks Armor Break and turns Sunder into Sweeping Slash, which hits twice with a wider arc, while its defensive branch adds Pummel Strike, an attack you can use while guarding that grants a damage-absorbing shield.

Trait points do not come from leveling. You earn them at Raeven's Coilstones, each guarded by a powerful boss. Leveling instead gives stat points that you assign across six primary stats. The developers say point costs and tree layouts may change based on player feedback.

Class names

The October 7 developer video press release named the four classes in the current development build Battlerage, Archery, Sorcery, and Defense; Korean coverage used 격투, 야성, 마법, and 철벽. Korean coverage of the October 2 demo announcement listed 격투, 야성, 철벽, and 마법, while English coverage listed Warrior, Ranger, Berserker, and Mage in the same order, so the names likely match in that order (our estimate). The October 15 progression post called the longsword and greatsword class a "Fighter." We will update the names once we see them in the demo.

Gender-locked classes

Each class has a fixed character gender. After criticism during the network test, the executive producer said in September that the current system would stay for early access and be reviewed afterward. In his October 18 letter, he said development of additional gender options is now underway. They will roll out gradually, starting with select classes rather than all at once, and will not be in the October demo. The developer video released October 21 and the Early Access section of the Steam store page also list this as a plan before full release. We will add the timing when it is announced.

Third weapons

In the October 7 developer video, the team said each class has two weapons for now, with a third planned for every class. The third weapons have not been officially named. A news site that summarized network test observations mentioned a sword and shield for the Warrior, a crossbow for the Ranger, a healing-type staff for the Mage, and an axe and shield for the Berserker; the axe and shield turned out to be one of the Berserker's two officially revealed weapons on September 28. The rest are unofficial, so we have not added them to the table yet. In the October 21 video, the team said the third weapons will be added one class at a time, and the Steam store page lists them as a plan before full release. No timing has been given.

All planned updates, including more gender options and the third weapons, are summarized in Early access content & update plans.

Build planner

The weapon & skill build planner currently runs on sample data that shows how it works. We will replace it with the real weapons and skills after early access. How trait points work and what each stat does are covered in Progression.
